The varsity boys’ bowling team produced a season to remember this fall, going undefeated at 16-0, winning the SAC championship and finishing among the top 16 teams in the state at the FHSAA Class 1A Finals at the Boardwalk Bowling Center from Oct. 28 – 30.
Freshman standout Kaleb Jimenez led the way, finishing eighth individually overall at states after placing seventh on the first day of competition.
“We really worked together,” Jimenez said. “We all knew each other from going to school and bowling, so we all supported each other.”
Under the guidance of Brittany Ziobro, who also teaches biology, the team built its success on teamwork, rather than relying solely on individual scores. The group, led by seniors Nicholas Stephan, Mitchell Guttentag and Connor Jimenez, developed a strong bond that was seen in every frame.
“The chemistry on the team this year was at its peak,” Stephan said. “We stayed confident, cheered each other on, and didn’t care about winning or losing. Our goal was to have fun and do our best.”

The team’s consistency was on display all season– demolishing local rivals like Oviedo (2482–2160), Lyman (2506–2195), and Winter Springs (2580–2388). The team averaged well above 2400 pins per match and never lost focus as they rolled through opponents from August to October.
Some highlights from the season were freshman Kaleb Jimenez’s 279 game against Winter Springs and senior Noah McPherson’s 489 series against Crooms Academy.
Alongside good team chemistry, a strong foundation of skills built at practices contributed to the undefeated record. Practices held at the Oviedo Bowling Center focused on traditional-style games and Baker-style formats, in which five people will bowl one game, and each player will bowl two frames in that game.
Even with their success, the Huskies never lost their sense of fun, keeping spirits high with small traditions and inside jokes.
“We made some funny sayings. If we had a strike, we said ‘strike it, spare it’ and if we had a spare we said ‘spare it, strike it,’” Stephan said.
The season had extra special meaning for the seniors.
“Playing with this team my senior year meant a lot,” senior Connor Jimenez said. “Bowling can really connect you with people.”
With two district titles in the last three years and an undefeated season now behind them, the Huskies have set a new standard for excellence. While the seniors move on, the future looks bright for Hagerty bowling.
“It’s really fun,” Jimenez said. “If you want to do it, you should try out. You won’t regret it.”
