Artist statement: My dog’s name is Archie, and he always slips through my back fence and disappears for hours at a time. I wrote this piece imagining him playing in a grassy sunkissed field behind our house, chasing a few wild animals, and taking a swim in our local pond. I love writing music, because it provides a feeling, a rhythm that words can’t explain. I think every note touches a different emotion that I can audibly hear, and it resonates on another level beyond a word’s touch. I am more easily able to express myself in music. I think this piece is literally a slice of life. It’s a small story, one that’s insignificant in its own right, but also touching, and provides an insight into something more ordinary, yet still entertaining.
