Netflix

When a movie contains top actors like Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, great things are expected. With the humor, muscles and beauty, Netflix had the recipe for the perfect action movie. However, these names were the only thing that kept “Red Notice” from a complete crash and burn.

Released Nov. 5, “Red Notice” follows FBI agent John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson) as he teams up with Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) to catch the world’s most wanted art thief, The Bishop (Gal Gadot).

Despite the hype, it was a letdown from the start. With a predictable storyline comes a boring series of events, and that is exactly what happened in “Red Notice.” Moments such as Booth escaping jail again and the Bishop always being one step ahead, viewers can assume what is going to happen next.

The whole point of the movie was to bring together three desired art pieces for someone but nothing ever happens to make it enticing, there is nothing on the line making it pointless. “Red Notice” was just a game of cat and mouse that continued until the end when the plot predictably comes together and (spoiler alert) everything works out for the main characters.

The bright spot was the film’s casting of major actors, like Ryan Reynolds, who was able to bring some comedic energy from past roles, such as “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” and “Free Guy,” to the film. However the cast was still never able to fully showcase their abilities.

Despite its significant actors, “Red Notice” only succeeded at hitting Netflix’s top charts due to the big names. Don’t let this movie steal your time.
