Keeping Up With the Clubs: Future Educators of America

The Future Educators of America held their first Kids Night event of the school year on Dec. 2 in the Husky Pup preschool on campus. Parents were able to drop their kids off from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. if they were between the ages of 3 and 8, paying $25 for each child they signed up. Eight children signed up for the event, with over 20 high school students there to watch them.

FEA members were split into groups and came up with holiday related activities for the children to engage in for the duration they were there. Activities included face painting, popsicle stick snowflakes and ornament making. The children were also provided pizza and lemonade for dinner.

The club worked after school to prepare for their activities for two weeks before the event. Members had to be flexible with dates changing for the event since two hurricanes and thanksgiving break interrupted their original plans. FEA members were able to get service hours and were required to attend Kids Night.

The next meeting for FEA will take place after students come back from winter break, after school in Jenny Burrell’s room 3-105.
