Under the glow of stadium lights, the crowd held its breath as the game bledsinto overtime. After four quarters of relentless hustle, endurance and energy, junior Courtney Dusart delivered a pass to junior Gabby Cervantes to score the winning touchdown.
“If we didn’t score, we would’ve had to keep playing in overtime and risk being scored on,” junior Courtney Dusart said.

On Tuesday, April 8, the girls flag football team hosted Seminole in the Sam Momary Stadium, beating them 12-6.
“Seminole is a very competitive and aggressive team so beating them was a huge accomplishment for us,” Cervantes said.
The team scored two touchdowns, led by Dusart and Cervantes.
“I feel like we worked for this win and it wasn’t easy for us to do,” sophomore Kimaya Jain said. “I’m proud of myself and the team.”
This was a big moment for the team since they have endured some close losses throughout the season.
“This season has been going well—there’s been a few bumps in the road—but I’m glad we were able to end the regular season with a win,” Dusart said.
This win has lifted some spirits just in time for playoffs, after the team finished the regular season 5-5.
“We’ve come a long way since last season and I’m really proud of how much we’ve grown as a team,” junior Kiera McDermott said.
The team will be moving onto the district playoffs against Boone on April 14.
“I’m excited because I feel like we’ve really improved as a team. I’m curious to see how that will affect us in districts against teams we haven’t played yet,” Dusart said.
