The varsity boys volleyball team played the Lake Howell Silver Hawks on Thursday, March 28. The boys started strong with a win in game one, but ended up losing the match 3-1.
Prior to the game, the team beat Crooms Academy with a score of 3-0, setting their season win rate of 6-4. Last season, the varsity team began their season with far more losses than wins, making this year a vast improvement from the last.
Starting off the first match, the score was tied until the end, where the Huskies took the advantage and won, 25-23. The second and third matches followed the same pattern, with a tie for a majority of the game. However, the Silver Hawks ended each set with a run, taking the win 25-18 for match two and 25-19 for match three. During the fourth set, the scores were once again back and forth throughout, but Lake Howell took the lead to end the match with a score of 25-20, for a final score of 3-1.
“It was very different than what was expected. We thought they would be insane because they are ranked second in the state, but they are just a solid team that we can beat if we play good,” senior Marcel Clemens said.
