Most of the world is at a standstill thanks to coronavirus, but a global pandemic will not stop Drake supporters from listening to his new album, however, it will prevent the public from going to celebrity centered events such as music festivals, concerts, or even late night shows.

In the entertainment industry, musicians have postponed or canceled tours, even events such as awards shows and festivals have also been put on hold. Tours from artists like Metallica, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, and every other artist you can think of have been cancelled and rescheduled for next year. 

Movie and television sets have also shut down production while the world hunkers down in quarantine. Delays have hit big movies including Wonder Woman 1984, Marvel’s Black Widow, James Bond thriller No Time to Die, Mulan, F9 and A Quiet Place Part 2. 

Famous faces including singers Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, John Legend and his wife, model Chrissy Teigen, rapper Cardi B, actor Hilary Duff and others have flocked to Instagram Live to entertain fans while they isolate themselves from crowds amid the coronavirus outbreak. 

Niall Horan performed live songs as an impromptu concert on March 19 for almost an hour, and he’s not the only one. Other celebrities who have gone live on Instagram to perform for their fans are Mariah Carrey,  Shawn Mendez and Camilla Cabello, Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, Twenty-One Pilots Joshua Dunn, and every other musician or celebrity you can think of. Most are to raise money for anti-coronavirus efforts or to support healthcare workers, or just to entertain fans.

Not only have celebrities been more active on their social medias Instagram and Snapchat, some have taken a liking to TikTok, with more celebrity activity than ever. Stars such as Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez, and Camila Cabello have promoted their songs and made videos for fun while stuck in quarantine. Performing live for their fans on any platform takes away from the sadness of cancelled tours and postponed events. At the same time, influencers like Snoop Dogg and T-Pain are streaming on Twitch.

Performers like John Legend and Coldplay’s Chris Martin have even used the hashtag #TogetherAtHome to promote their streams meant to entertain millions stuck at home. Not only this but many are creating funds and promoting donations to healthcare workers and anti-coronavirus efforts. 

Video chat app Houseparty launched a new project called In the House where celebrities and people alike joined together in one big call, which occured on May 15-17. It featured more than 40 celebrities who danced, talked, cooked, sang and more, over the course of three days. If you missed this one, no worries because the company is planning on more in the future. 

Miley Cyrus has been livestreaming with a slew of guests at 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on her Instagram. Her show’s guests so far have included everyone from Reese Witherspoon to Hilary Duff to a “Hannah Montana” reunion with Emily Osment to a revealing reunion with Selena Gomez.

While all sorts of tours have been postponed until next year, the Uncancelled music festival, held on StageIt, began April 2 and “will continue every day until the crisis subsides” to help musicians who have lost touring income. Tickets for each set are a minimum of $0.10, but a recommended $5.

Some celebrities like Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui have even gone live on Billboard’s FaceBook page to raise money for charity. Likewise, late night shows like James Gordon’s late night show have hosted musicians to perform live for people at home. Specifically James Gordon’s “HomeFest” has featured John Legend and BTS.
