Volleyball wins back to back games

On Monday, Sept. 29, the volleyball team beat Lyman, at Lyman, in three straight sets. Senior outside hitter Nicole Mattson had 12 kills and 15 digs. Junior middle hitter Brianna Baez also added 9 kills and 2 digs to the win. After the victory against Lyman the team’s record was 14-4, putting them in the top ten in the state.
The girls then recorded another win the next day on Tuesday, Sept. 30, against Lake Howell, at Lake Howell, in a 3-2 victory. Mattson and sophomore middle hitter Anne-Marie Watson were accredited for leading the team to the win by the Coach Juanita Hitt.
“The connection between the setters and the hitters was really good against Lake Howell [and] helped me to get my kills,” Watson said.
The game ended in a tie breaker after each team had the 4 sets split 2-2.
“We wanted it more and we fought harder, we came together as a team to push through and win the game for each other,” junior outside hitter Lauren Basin said.
The team’s record is now 15-4. They are preparing for their next home game, Thursday Oct. 2, at home against Lake Brantley for the third game this week. It will be the first time they face Lake Brantley this season and the game will count towards their district record.
