Women’s golf makes it to states

This Monday at Twin Rivers marked a milestone for Hagerty’s women’s golf team.  The team will be the first from the school to make it to the Florida High School Athletic Association State Championships.

“We pretty much made history.  We’re the first team to go to state,” sophomore Erikah Neger said.  She was one of the lucky few to participate in the championships.

The team of five made quite the impression on the ten visiting teams, placing second in the FHSAA Region Championships.  Golf teams came from all over the region and locally as well, including teams from Daytona Beach and Orlando.

Despite the tough course, golfers gave it their all and their hard work paid off.

“We all did our best out there and it really showed today,” Neger said.

The team members were given excused absences from school to give it their best representing their husky pride.  Now they begin training for state, something they all can look forward to.  On November 5 and 6, the team will travel to Lady Lake, Florida to make team history and hopefully bring home a trophy.

Neger looks forward to golfing in the state championships.

“It’s the best feeling ever.  I’m so excited and I’m just so happy we all did great,” Neger said.
