Lauren Downs
Flying for two hours to Carbondale, Ill. junior Lauren Downs along with her parents visited Southern Illinois University Carbondale to witness the eclipse in its full totality. Downs stayed overnight in a RV close to the college campus. During the event, Downs encountered a cloud that covered the eclipse for three hours, making it hard for her to get a clear view of the event. However, during its peak, Downs got to witness the last six seconds of the eclipse during totality.
