Girl’s soccer tryouts begin Oct. 7
On Oct. 7-11 the girls soccer team will hold tryouts after school on the track.
During tryouts, players will be put through a series of skill assessments, such as running, shooting, passing and dribbling the ball. An official tryout schedule has been released, including the dates of events such as the “Hell Run,” a grueling task consisting of five laps and multiple sprints.
The coaches, Angie Densberger, Rodney Kenney, and Sherlock Blackwood will be holding and supervising the tryouts. They will be looking for how much effort hopeful soccer players put in along their abilities.
Pre-tryout conditioning has already begun, and is recommended for everyone who wants to be a part of the team. Conditioning is held on Mondays and Wednesdays right after school, and consists of running and sprints.
“All you need is running shoes, running shorts, and a t-shirt; something you don’t mind getting dirty,” sophomore Meghan Precord said.
She also recommends to bring water, as 30 girls had to share seven water bottles last conditioning.
Last year the varsity team finished the season 23-1-1, and is look forward to creating an equally competitive team.
