Senior Kylee Nyiri was running as fast as she could across midfield, but instead of kicking a ball for the soccer team, she was carrying one for powderpuff, all the while trying to evade her blue-shirted junior opponents. She scored on a 60-yard run for her second touchdown of the night, and helped lift the seniors over the juniors in Wednesday’s powderpuff game, 28-12.

“Coach Chacon said I made football look easy,” Nyiri said.

Nyiri’s two rushing scores were complemented by a touchdown pass from senior Morgan Pleasants to senior Harper Robertson, and an 80-yard rushing score from senior Tania Sims.

On the other side of the ball, the senior defense limited the junior offense to one score from Jessica Liberatore.

“It’s great to carry my team when we really needed a touchdown,” Liberatore said.

An interception by junior Sydney Smith, who returned it for a touchdown, provided the second, and final, junior score of the night.

“I just caught it, started running, and didn’t look back,” Smith said.

At halftime, while the junior and senior male cheerleaders performed their routines, dancing to songs like “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj.

Coach Brittany Campbell remained outspoken on the sidelines, yelling out orders to the senior team or at the referees.

“There were some challenges, but they never quit. I’m very proud of my girls,” Campbell said.
