Film club begins coffee sales
Starting this week, film club sponsor Samantha Richardson’s doors will be open to students who need their caffeine fixes.
Film club will now be selling coffee, tea and hot cocoa every morning before the first period of the day in Richardson’s room, 7-212. Coffee will be $2, and tea and cocoa will be $1.
Every club must submit a form for administration approval before they begin fundraising, and film club submitted their request to sell coffee before debate, who sold it last year. Love says this is no huge loss for them since most of their profits come from spirit nights at local businesses, such as Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, Tijuana Flats and Moe’s.
Film club decided to fundraise to accommodate a shift in the club’s focus from primarily watching movies to making movies.
“We’re thinking about changing the structure of the club this year, so we needed some sort of money in order to do things that we’re planning on doing,” club president Aidan Ryan said.
Coffee sales will assist in purchasing the equipment necessary for club members to make short films throughout the year.
Film club’s first meeting will be on Friday, Aug. 26.
