Santa tour
With the holiday season in full swing, many are looking for fun events to attend to help get into a festive mood. The Oviedo Fire Dept. has been doing their annual Santa Tours this week (Dec. 9
through the 14th). The remaining tour, starting Friday at 5:30 p.m., will pass through the Aulin’s Landing, Riverside, Live Oak, and Sanctuary neighborhoods. For students who have younger siblings or those who just want to embrace their inner kid before winter break, the Santa Tour is a great way to do so.
“My favorite part is definitely making the kids smile,” Deputy Chief Stephen Livingston said. “The lights, seeing Santa, and getting candy thrown, it all really brightens up their day. It also helps us reach out to the community and make our presence more known.”
Livingston is one of the drivers for the tours.
The tour will not go down every individual street but it will circle the listed neighborhoods. If you’re unsure about where to catch Santa you can check the map of his routes.
Winterfest
Oviedo on the Park will turn into the North Pole for the afternoon on Saturday, Dec. 14. From noon to 5 p.m. there will be an array of holiday themed activities and rides. The weather will be a bit more Floridian, mild temperatures in the low 70s and some rain expected. There will be pictures with Santa and food trucks as well. Wristbands will be $20 when purchased beforehand and $25 at the event. Given the purchase of a wristband, there is unlimited access to all of the attractions. A holiday cocktail bar will also be featured for parents wanting to attend. In the past, Winterfest has
featured massive bounce houses, build-a-bear, and fake snow.
Outside food and drinks are prohibited, as well as umbrellas and metal containers. All bags, backpacks and purses can be subject to inspection upon entry.
