As Oviedo continues to grow, the city has been trying to maintain the comforting small town feel while giving the community exciting new things to do, using Oviedo on the Park (described as the jewel of Central Florida) as a cultural and community hub since it was finished in 2014. Most recently the city held Food Truck Thursday—Fit Before the Feast on Nov. 21 which featured food trucks and yoga.
The City of Oviedo will be introducing a new event this Saturday. The World Market at the Park, held on Nov. 23, will feature unique food and art from various vendors, as well as live music. Market at the Park is meant to showcase the multitude of cultures that make Oviedo thrive and put a highlight on the city’s diversity. This event is great for anyone who enjoys getting out of their flavor comfort zone as it will feature spices from around the world. For those who love a healthy snack, it will feature fresh fruits as well.
“It’s always fun working on something new. A lot of effort goes into planning these sorts of things but it’s worth it,” city event coordinator Dean McCallum said. “Events like these are great for a community—we should always celebrate diversity.”
It will be a little windy and in the 50s tomorrow morning so make sure to bring a hoodie or coat to keep warm while enjoying Oviedo’s newest event. The market will open at 8 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. The event will be quarterly and has three dates planned for 2025 in January, May and August.
