When the calendar hits September, fall might not be in the air, but it is in all the popular drink and food spots around Oviedo. If you like coffee drinks or sweet snacks and are wondering what all the hype is about, here is a guide to the most popular fall drinks and foods.

The pumpkin spice latte became popular in 2017 when so many people were posting it on Instagram, and fans became known as the pumpkin spice girls. While it is the grandmother of fall drinks, my personal opinion is that the iced pumpkin spice latte is very yummy but it is very sweet and tastes very strong of pumpkin syrup. Normally a grande iced pumpkin latte has four pumps of pumpkin syrup and whipped cream but instead, If the drink is too sweet, try two pumps of pumpkin syrup and pumpkin sweet cream cold foam to cut down the sweetnes

The banana pudding milkshake from Chick-fil-A came out on Aug. 26 and went viral on TikTok and Instagram. It is a vanilla base milkshake with banana puree and chunks of vanilla wafers in it. It is very good for someone who likes banana pudding a lot. It has a lot of banana flavor and the vanilla wafers add a nice crunch to the shake. It is also more unique because most places don’t serve this flavor. The milkshake is only around until Nov. 16. If you enjoy banana pudding, go try this drink.

Vespr Coffee Bar is popular around the UCF campus and many students go there to study or do homework. The atmosphere is very calming and there are couches, tables, and dim lighting. Their pumpkin spice latte is always popular in the fall and has the perfect ratio. It’s not overly sweet and just has a hint of pumpkin. Pumpkin spice added to the top of it makes it pretty. For coffee lovers, this is one of the best pumpkin spice lattes because it has a very espresso-forward taste. For those who prefer a classic sweet pumpkin spice latte, stick with Starbucks.

Not every fall flavor has to involve a trip to a coffee shop. Pumpkin-shaped Reese’s peanut butter cups might not have pumpkin flavor, but they add some Halloween fun. They are a cute treat, but then you realize how much better. The milk chocolate peanut butter cups became popular during Halloween since certain houses were giving them out to kids. They are also a cute treat, people were taking photos in the sense they are pumpkin shaped. But we started realizing how much better the pumpkin ones are then the normal ones. The pumpkin ones have a better peanut butter to chocolate ratio. The main taste is peanut butter then you get a hint of chocolate, so definitely get these if you’re a peanut butter lover.

The Honey caramel crunch iced coffee became popular again this year since they just brought it to First Watch. It is coffee topped with a sweet cream cold foam with toffee crumbles on top. The coffee flavor is caramel and honey with caramel drizzle around the cup. This is more of a sweet coffee but it’s very delicious. It has the perfect mix of caramel and coffee and is very cute looking. It won’t be around for long but, if you’re craving sweet caramel coffee, go get it now.

Jessica Johnson is a sophomore at Hagerty High School and this is her first year on staff. She has an interest in the medical field and wants to attend UCF with hopes of becoming a dermatologist or joining the Air Force. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach with her friends and going to concerts.

Josephine LIm, Print Editor

Josephine Lim is a senior at Hagerty and this is her second year on staff. She is the Print Editor of the newspaper and Editor-in-Chief of the Graphite Literary Magazine. Lim’s love of digital art and the encouragement of her older sister inspired her to join the staff during her junior year.

Kailey Calvo, Editor-in-chief

Kailey Calvo is a senior at Hagerty High School, and this is her third year on staff. She is the president of Girl Up and Quill and Scroll and vice-president of Rho Kappa. She was also a finalist for FSPA's 2024 Online Journalist of the Year. In her free time, Kailey enjoys reading, traveling and attending concerts. During the summer, she served as a news intern at the Harvard Crimson. Her favorite parts about being on the staff is how journalism has allowed her to be involved in her community and helping staffers grow and develop skills.
