JV boys lax rallies past Timber Creek
March 11, 2015
On Thursday, March 5, the JV boys lacrosse team beat out of district opponent, Timber Creek, 8-4, with sophomore Ethan Geiger leading the way, scoring four times.
“We played really well tonight,” Geiger said. “It’s a team sport and I think all my goals were off of assists.”
This game provided the team with their fourth win, making their record 4-3 overall. The team started the season 0-2, losing to Lake Mary, 7-4 and Lake Brantley 3-2, but after went on a three game win streak, beating Boone, 8-2, Merritt Island, 11-7, and Oviedo, 4-3.
After being up only 4-3 at the end of the first half, the team eventually pulled away, scoring four straight goals and playing tight defense. Other scorers who led to the win include freshman Zach Armstrong, who got two goals, and sophomore Joey Tarr with one.
“It feels good to have a winning record now,” Tarr said. “This game helps set a nice tone for the upcoming game.”
The teams’ next game is against Lake Highland Prep on Monday, March 9.
“The win today means a lot going forward,” coach Byron Reano said. “We’re going to take everything from this game and apply it to Monday’s because I didn’t have any complaints and hopefully if we play like we did tonight, we’ll come out on top against every team later in the season.”
