Trauma after trauma, Ani FaNelli (Mila Kunis) has tried to bury her past deep in the ground. However, all that changes as her past is brought back up in a new documentary, but this time, she gets to tell her side.

Released on Netflix Sept. 30, “Luckiest Girl Alive” follows the life of FaNelli after her traumatic childhood, with flashbacks to those fateful moments that changed everything. Throughout the movie, viewers watch her face secrets that threaten to unravel the perfect life she has created.

The best directors perfect their movies all the way down to the main actors, and director Mike Barker did just that. Main actress Kunis gives an incredible performance throughout. Kunis’ portrayal of emotion is incredible, especially when she shows the pain and anger the past causes for her character.

Along with the solid acting, “Luckiest Girl Alive” never has a boring moment. There are no scenes with pointless conversations or random moments where nothing is happening. Between all the flashbacks and FaNelli’s present life with a great fiance and job, you will never want to look away.

Although the movie did not have any dull moments, viewers should be advised that there are trigger warnings for sexual violence and other forms of abuse. However, these scenes that include things such as school violence are needed to complete the plot..

Despite some bothersome scenes, “Luckiest Girl Alive” is worth watching. Just like you should not wait to tell your truth, you should not wait to watch it.
