Impressive guitar instrumentals, catchy lyrics, amazing tone, it is all in Steve Lacy’s R&B and Soul album released on July 15, “Gemini Rights.” Lacy is known for his previous hit song “Dark Red” released in 2017. The album consists of 10 nearly perfect songs with a complete run time of 34 minutes and 57 seconds.

Each song has a unique guitar piece. The guitar instrumentals and lyrics in “Mercury” and “Sunshine” bring out the tone of the songs showcasing Lacy’s talents.

But, behind the songs there is a storyline. Lacy talks about the things that went wrong in his relationship in the first half of the album. Moving on, he talks about how he regrets not truly telling his significant other about how he felt in “Bad Habit.” Entering the second part of the album, Lacy accepts that the relationship is over until he wants his significant other back in the last two songs. This all brings “Gemini Rights” together and brings a different tone and feeling to each song.

“Bad Habit” is the centerpiece of the album with its very catchy lyrics, “I wish I knew, I wish I knew you wanted me.” “Mercury” is a very different and funky song compared to the other tracks in “Gemini Rights”.

Overall, this album should have a ten out of ten rating. All the songs sound great and each one sounds different from the others. Even if you usually don’t listen to R&B music, you should take a moment to listen to “Gemini Rights.”
