Volleyball final leads senior night
October 8, 2014
On Thursday, Oct. 10, the girls varsity volleyball team will play against Lyman for their final home game in the regular season. Just like any sport at any high school, the last home game is senior night as well. The team leads into the game with a 6-1 district record and a 11-3 overall record.
The team has played Lyman once before and swept them in three sets with the scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-15. The team is predicted to win against the Greyhounds due to this previous win and a comparison between team records. Lyman only has one win for their overall record and no wins in their district.
“Last game we cut it a little close in the second set with letting them get up to 23 points, but this time we are going to come out and kill them,” senior outside hitter and team captain Nicole Mattson said. “We just need to stay focused and play to the best of our abilities.”
Even though Mattson said this should be an “easy win for the team,” a lot of the players are more focused on senior night rather than the actual game.
“This is our very last home game playing with our sisters and it is going to be a very emotionally invested time for us,” senior libero Shelby Sutch said. “The nearness of the end of the season has not really hit the seniors yet and I have a feeling it will for that game.”
