Texas Pete
Texas Pete originated in 1929 as part of a restaurant franchise. However, the focus of the original restaurant was not hot sauce and it shows in the lack of effort put into making the recipe something of substance. While the stars of the show are the peppers and vinegar, the added preservatives like xanthan gum and sodium bisulfite ruin the formula, and give it a weird texture. The long list of ingredients is reflective of all the additives they put in their sauces to produce it cheaply and efficiently. Texas Pete has a smell and consistency that reminds consumers of pickles. The sauce is runny and all around does not look, smell, or taste appetizing.
