Choir department prepares for final performance
The choir department will hold its Broadway-themed final concert on Friday, May 9 at 7 p.m., featuring performances by the Voices of Hagerty, Advanced Women’s Choir, Huskafellas and Hagerty Singers, as well as solo acts and smaller ensembles. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of; general seating is $5 for students and $8 for adults, while priority seating is $7 for students and $10 for adults.
In contrast to the average classical performance, this “pop” concert involves a longer program, choreography and more upbeat selections such as Transylvania Mania, which will be performed by the Voices of Hagerty.
“I prefer this type of performance personally,” junior Adriana Caamano said. “I love the classical pieces but I feel like we can really connect to this type of music.”
In the midst of preparation for the show, the groups have also been preparing for the state Music Performance Assessment, doubling the amount of music to be learned. Despite the increase in material and stress, according to Caamano, the choirs remain enthusiastic about the upcoming performance.
“We have a group of such talented people that to give up would be a waste,” Caamano said. “Singing is our passion. We never really get tired of it so there’s never an urge to give up.”
