Charli versus Chick-fil-A

The Charli and the Mocha Cream Cold Brew are two new coffee drinks released in September.

Over the past few years, iced coffee has taken the world by storm. Its silky texture and cold temperature make it the perfect wake-up drink. Now, signature iced coffees are being created left and right, whether it is from a multi-billion dollar company or a 16-year-old TikTok star.

Two new coffees were released in September, named the “Mocha Cream Cold Brew” by Chick-fil-A and “The Charli” by Dunkin’ Donuts partnered with Charli D’Amelio, an internet sensation with a TikTok following of 90 million. Both coffees are a cold brew with added flavors, “The Charli” containing three pumps of caramel and “Mocha Cream Cold Brew” containing sweet cream and chocolate syrup. Surprisingly, “The Charli” wins this flavor battle and is a tastier drink than “Mocha Cream Cold Brew.”

For those who like their coffee to have a balance of bitter and sweet, “The Charli” is definitely the more suitable drink. The caramel in the drink is not overwhelming; you can taste it, but only slightly. It leaves a nice aftertaste in your mouth and satisfies your sweet tooth. “The Charli” does not contain a large amount of ice, giving it a sharp contrast to many other iced coffees. There is not a single bad component of “The Charli,” making it one of the most delicious drinks available.

On the other hand, the “Mocha Cream Cold Brew” has an incredibly strong mocha taste, overpowering the coffee and making it taste like drinking a glass of mocha syrup. The drink is not bad, but it does not taste like coffee. It is very sweet and pairs well with brownies, as Chick-fil-A advertised. Additionally, the drink is not very cold; it is warm and slightly watered down. However, that may not be the case for every drink purchased.

Overall, both cold brews are decent drinks, but “The Charli” is a perfect blend of coffee and caramel that the “Mocha Cream Cold Brew” simply cannot compete with.
