In previous years, the Breakfast of Champions is held at the Lake Mary Events Center with a breakfast and a ceremony for the best athletes in the county. Now, they must resort to Facebook Live.

On Thursday, May 21, Seminole County hosted a “Day of Champions” livestream on Facebook to replace what would have been the Breakfast of Champions. ESPN 580 AM talk show host Scott Anez was the presenter of the ceremonies as they celebrated the athletes’ success throughout the day.

At 11 a.m., they recognized the fall sport athletes, at 1 p.m. they recognized winter sport athletes and 4:00 p.m. was for spring sport athletes.

Anez talked briefly about the athletes with bullet points of their athletic achievements this year and their college plans.

Aidan Kramer (Golf), Sydney Conley (volleyball), Jah Nze (basketball), Jada Llamido (weightlifting), Laila Viator(girls lacrosse), Christian Hofer (boys lacrosse), Josh Bozzacco (weightlifting) and coach Juanita Hitt were all invited to view the livestream regarding their achievements.

“It was a great reward for all the hard work we put in this year,” Hitt said.

In terms of working towards being recognized, some athletes like Viator did not expect to be recognized at the event, while Hofer set specific goals in place this year to be invited.

“I was aiming for 100 goals and a few assists along with a district championship and Seminole Athletic Conference player of the year,” Hofer said.

Even though the athletes could not attend the breakfast in person, the honor was still appreciated throughout.

The Seminole County Recreation Council recognized three male and female seasonal athletes of the year and two scholar athletes as well.
