After listening to the “Baby Yoda” Tik Tok sound for the twentieth time, it just becomes a part of life. Sending over eighty “I wan fuit gummy” memes to someone you barely know no longer seems that crazy and the Instagram explore page seems to agree. With Disney Plus creating their own original television series, it is not surprising that one of them has conquered the internet. Appealing to both meme creators and Star Wars fans alike: The Mandalorian. 

The Mandalorian focuses on “Mando”, who is played by Pedro Pascal. While the plot of the series is interesting enough, the real reason to watch is for a furry green alien called “The Child” in the series, but beloved by the Internet as Baby Yoda. 

Baby Yoda has rapidly taken the title of the Most Adorable Star Wars character, knocking the Porgs from “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” out of their top spot. 

Not much information is given about Baby Yoda in the show, but we know that he is 50 years old and very powerful. With the entire guild chasing after him and his ability to use the Force, people have speculated that Baby Yoda is the love child of Yoda and Yaddle, two members of the Jedi Council. There are also speculations that The Child may be a product of cloning.

No matter his origins, he possesses a high Force sensitivity, which may be the reason for his extremely high, but this does not explain the internet’s great fascination with the small green creature. 

Baby Yoda is undoubtedly adorable, resembling a mix between Yoda and Gizmo from the movie “Gremlins.” And his large ears, small nose and enormous eyes are enough to make anyone audibly coo at the 50-year-old. 

While he looks like a child, he also acts the part by chasing and eating frogs, playing with a small silver ball, and reaching up to ask the Mandalorian to pick him up. 

The cuteness of Baby Yoda has led to the creation of jokes and memes usually involving misspelled words such as “I wan fuit gummy”.

The popularity of Baby Yoda memes is similar to the cat video effect. Once people start watching, they cannot get enough. The Baby Yoda memes are not especially funny but that is not really the point and regardless, people still share them with their friends and repost to their own social media.

The Mandalorian is more than just Baby Yoda, but Baby Yoda is the reason to watch. With episodes coming out every Friday and season two currently in production, now is the best time to hop on the Baby Yoda bandwagon.
