The Youth Advisory Council partnered with the drama department to organize “Oviedo’s got Talent,” a local talent show open to the community. The event will be held in the auditorium on May 23 at 6:30, and will feature 19 different acts from puppeteers to pianists. While there is no entry fee, donations are strongly recommended. All of the proceeds will raise money for the new Oviedo Boys and Girls Club.

“It is a great home for local students to have, and the group provides tremendous support for the communities,” Michael McNamara founder and co-leader of the Youth Advisory Council said.

The Youth Advisory council hopes to help peers through local government and service. The group consists of seven members from both Oviedo and Hagerty who have demonstrated leadership qualities within their schools.

“I got involved in Youth Advisory because I wanted to help the community, and that’s exactly what we are trying to achieve with this,” freshman Kirsten Trevino said.

McNamara has played a vital role in organizing the event and agreed to host the show after graduating on May 20.

“This will be my last time performing on the Hagerty stage, so I hope to have a bit of fun with it,” McNamara said.

The audience will also have a large role within the show. Using Mobile devices, the audience will be able to vote for their favorite performer, which allows for an unbiased result.

“I think that will add a fun twist to the show, but in the end it’s all about why we are doing it not who wins,” performer Sami Vincent said.

Audience members will have the opportunity to be entered in a raffle for various local restaurants as well, such as Cafe Pannuzo.

“It’s a real outpouring of community support, but all of this won’t mean anything unless we get a good audience,” McNamara said.
